As a part of the Gillman Subaru Love Promise, we do what we can to give back to our community, and one of the ways we do so is by preserving the integrity of the environment. That is why we are proud to be the community sponsor of Picnic in the Park, Evelyn Park's Grand Opening event which is set to take place on Earth Day this April the 22nd. Join us for a day filled with culinary delights, beer and wine tastings, and other fun and family-friendly activities!
A Little Back Story Behind the Land
Before its transformation, Evelyn's Park was originally the Teas Nursery. Established back in 1910, it was the site of the first business in Bellaire and was aptly named after its founder, Edward Teas, who was an avid horticulturist. Thanks to his efforts, the land provided a beautiful backdrop for the area and helped uplift the neighborhood and local businesses. The nursery came to a close a century later.
Fortunately, two brothers—Jerry and Maury Rubenstein—bought the land in December 2009 with the intent to sustain its beauty. It was named it after their mother who was a longstanding resident of Bellaire, an admired philanthropist, and an enthusiast of the great outdoors. The brothers donated the 5-acre property to the city with the requirement that it be used as parkland for the local community.
What Lies Ahead for the Newfound Park
Now that the restoration of Evelyn's Park is complete, it is ready to be enjoyed by the public. The grand opening is close at hand, and Gillman Subaru is thrilled to partake in the event. We hope to make this day a memorable experience for all those who attend. So be sure to join us on this exciting occasion, whether you live in Bellaire, Houston, or beyond!
