How to Get the Most Out of Your Test Drive Experience

Would you move into a new home without first taking a tour of the interior? We think not, and it makes equally no sense to buy a car without first test driving it. Learn how to get the most out of a test drive session.

First, do your homework before stepping foot into our dealership. Know what you want; this includes far more than just the model. You should also consider trim, engine type, and even color. If you’re set on an upgraded V8 engine, for example, then it’s not very helpful to test drive a model with the base V6 engine. You should call the dealership before visiting to be sure they have the exact model and trim on inventory.

During the test drive, pay attention to the small details. Many cars have their own “personalities” that resonate with you or irritate you. The placement of the armrest, for example, may seem like a minor thing but can become a greater irritant for longer commutes.

Drive both on the city streets and freeway. How does the car feel when merging? Do you notice a difference in power output when switching on the AC? Do the seats feel like they can keep you comfy for extended trips? Do you think the car will resonate with the spouse and kids the way it does with you?

Come by Gillman Subaru Southwest to see what’s on inventory. Which model do you want to test drive? How about the 2019 Subaru Ascent, or the 2019 Subaru Legacy? If you’re satisfied with a car following a test drive, then the next step is to see our Subaru finance center near Katy, TX.
